Location: LancashireOverview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Specification Technologist to join a close-knit, high-performing technical team within an established and market-leading food manufacturing business on a fixed term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for compliance, accuracy and cross-functional collaboration to play a key role in ensuring products meet retailer, legal and customer standards. About you…• Reasonable experience within a food or FMCG manufacturing environment.• Experience working with retailer specification portals is essential.• Strong understanding of food labelling legislation, allergen management and nutritional information.• As Specification Technologist, Food Hygiene Level 3 (or above) is preferred.• A degree in Food Science, Nutrition or a related scientific discipline would be advantageous.• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and strong IT skills.• Confident communicator, able to liaise with internal teams, suppliers and customers.• Bakery knowledge and BRC experience would be desirable. What will you be doing?• Creating, reviewing and maintaining detailed finished product specifications for both own-label and branded products via retailer web-based portals.• Ensuring all specifications comply with UK, EU and relevant food safety, labelling and regulatory requirements.• Reviewing and approving packaging and artwork to ensure full legal and customer compliance.• Providing accurate nutritional, allergen and ingredient information for new and existing products.• As Specification Technologist, you will be managing supplier approval documentation including risk assessments.• Supporting product launches, shelf-life trials and technical sign-off processes.• Acting as a key contact for retailer technical queries, questionnaires and audits.• Maintaining accurate document control and managing internal specification systems.• Supporting customer and third-party audits, including BRC accreditation.
